What to expect…

This year we have noticed quite a few guests that have not attended gatherings previously. So I thought it would be helpful to give them a bit of insight into what to expect.

I will start and I invite those of you that have attended before to comment and add your thoughts.

Our gathering is centered around networking and providing a venue where artisans with similar interests can meet, learn, share and have fun. To that end these are some things you can expect at the event:

We try to plan a meet and greet type activity the night before the gathering. Realizing some guests arrive a day early, it’s a great opportunity to get to know those that you will be spending the next day with. It also provides for some face time with your fellow artisans, getting to know the other guests. This year Kimberly has planned for a Yankee Swap at a Pajama Party – the location is to be announced and details can be found on the Yankee Swap Details Post – look it up if you are interested and make sure you RSVP to participate.

The morning of the event we have a registration table set up outside the meeting room. At the front desk they should have a marque that will instruct you which meeting room our event is being held. We will be in the fireside room. When checking in, you will be given a lanyard with a name tag, a door prize ticket, your event binder and literature along with an AM giftie bag. If you have paid a guest admission your guest will be checked in, given their guest name badge and an AM giftie bag. If you plan to participate with the gathering swap and/or contests, you will be directed to Kim – she will assist you with this activitiy. More information can be found on the Gathering Swap Details Post – look it up and make sure you sign up. During registration coffee is available.

Our Mistress of Ceremonies will start our event at the prescribed time and introduce the event organizers and go over any changes to the schedule or any details of the day that you need to be aware of. She will then introduce and manage the schedule of demos and speakers throughout the day. We will provide bathroom breaks.

Speakers and demonstrators have provided us materials to share regarding their topics, these can be found in your event literature. We do provide time in our schedule for shopping, so while we strongly encourage you to check out our vendors, we do ask that you do so during the times provides as to not interupt those speaking.

At lunch time we will leave our meeting room and enter the room where we will be eating lunch. This will either be a different room or a sectioned area of the dining room. Lunch is a buffet, the menu is contained in the Lunch Menu post, check it out to see what is being served. Guest admissions do include lunch. At the end of lunch the judges will pick the contest winners.

After lunch we will return to our meeting room with PM giftie bags, to finish our schedule of speakers and demos. At the conclusion of those presentations we will draw tickets for the prizes and disperse those to registered guests. Your ticket will be in the back of the name badge holder. Contest winners will be announced before our event comes to a close.

I am sure I have missed something, but as registration comes to a close and we firm up the schedule I will be reminded what I have omitted and I will edit the post!

    Cheryl said,

Hi everyone ! I had an unexpected day off from my other job (flat tire) so I thought I’d jump on here and let you know that I’m still active, although I’ve been pretty vacant on the boards.
These events were meant to be fun as well as informative,
Please do not think that it’s going to be a stiff business meeting,it’s not .
We highly encourage you to enjoy yourself ,learn as much as possible and network like crazy !!
I personally have met some fabulous folks at these things over the years, both artisans and suppliers.
People who have become very dear to me (Abbie) and have kept me motivated at times when I felt like saying”to heck with it “.
I’m looking forward to some new faces this year ,the demos, and our network session.
    See you there !!
